Overview:
Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association is seeking an IT Systems Technician to provide support for internal and external IT infrastructure. This position requires a dependable professional with strong technical skills and a commitment to delivering effective IT and networking support.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform installation, maintenance, and upgrades of PCs, software, and operating systems.
· Apply patches and ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed across systems.
· Maintain and troubleshoot IT infrastructure including switches, firewalls, virtual machines, and cabling.
· Monitor and manage the Trouble Ticket email inbox; open and track tickets as needed.
· Communicate effectively using Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp to support remote and field operations.
· Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues efficiently.
· Participate in disaster recovery planning and implement IT system maintenance best practices.
· Ensure timely and professional support during outages or service disruptions, including availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
· Assist with new ethernet/fiber cabling installations and terminations.
· Other various duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in IT Systems Support, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred.
· Prior IT experience preferred; CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+) are a plus.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and general IT systems.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Highly organized, professional, and punctual.
· Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
· Must be capable of working in extreme hot and cold environments, as required.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience supporting fiber internet services or telecommunications infrastructure.
· Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
· Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
· Experience with the Microsoft suite of products and services, as well as troubleshooting Windows PC issues.
· Ethernet cable and fiber cable termination experience.
· General working knowledge of VMware products and services and network switch configuration and maintenance.
· Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical personnel.
