July CEO Fiber Update

PearlComm Fiber Construction Update

It’s hard to believe summer is already here! Our teams at PearlComm and Pearl River Valley EPA have been busy working tirelessly to bring fiber service to our members as quickly as possible. Here’s an update on what’s happening and what’s coming next:

This month, we are excited to see make-ready construction and fiber construction continue on our Foxworth substation.  Crews are changing out the poles to accommodate the fiber lines that are now being added. That means we will soon be splicing the attached fiber in this area, and we anticipate connecting our first customers in the Foxworth substation in the fall.

Make-ready engineering and construction is about to begin in the South Columbia substation later this summer and into the fall.  If you live in these areas, you can expect to see crews working on behalf of PearlComm Fiber. We expect the first customers will be connected in South Columbia during the first quarter of 2022.

The next substations that will begin the Design Phase are Columbia and then Maxie. Customers in these regions will be connected in 2022; more specific timelines will be announced as the project evolves. Sometimes weather or other factors may impact our plans, but we will continue to communicate with our membership about any changes to the schedule.

Preregistration Tool Available Now

As we get closer to connecting customers, remember fiber internet is worth the wait. Don’t get locked into slow, unreliable service by signing a contract with another provider. Instead, preregister at the PearlComm Fiber site: pearlcommfiber.net. Sign up at the site to be notified by email when service will be available in your area. Preregistering is not a commitment to subscribe to our service; it just keeps you up to date on what is available.

PearlCommFiber Facebook Coming Soon

As always, we will keep you updated on the construction process here and on our website, but we’re making it easier to stay in touch and get the latest project updates with the launch of our PearlComm Fiber Facebook page coming later this month! We are excited for a new way to communicate with our members about everything fiber. Followers will be the first to see our updates, project information, education, and more. Check the August issue here for more details of the launch and even a giveaway to celebrate our launch.

Exciting times are ahead for Pearl River Valley EPA members. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
